Welcome to the Nations Website!

Nations appeals mainly to areas of the world where the Christian church is beginning to experience a sense of destiny, but where there is, as yet, little or no history of Christian mission sending.

Leading Christian missiologists today recognise that, logistically, the Western nations alone cannot hope to complete the work of World evangelisation. Hence the need of mission planting movements like Nations.

Theologically, the need for all nations to be reaching all nations presents an even stronger case for mission planting. For the Father waits to receive full returns on the deposit of His life which He has placed in each of Earth's great families.

The objective of Nations is to attempt to raise 20,000 new missionaries - 20,000 being one-tenth, or a tithe, of the estimated 200,000 who will be needed to complete the task of World evangelisation.

…standing before the throne (Rev 7:9)

December 2007

At this time of year we celebrate the WORD becoming flesh. John gave testimony to the glory he saw in the flesh of Jesus, describing it as full of GRACE and TRUTH. I am so glad that grace precedes truth. Perhaps it could be said that for truth to be received, it must be wrapped in grace. People are hungry to see the glory of God. Our challenge being, can our flesh incarnate the WORD, in its grace and truth? Is our evangelism just throwing truth at people, or will we wrap it in the costly, sometimes painful gift of grace?

I hope you can find the grace to forgive us for our long lack of news. So much has been happening, much not possible to be included here, that we have not organised ourselves sufficiently to write about it.

Mic 6 : 8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Beloved in the Lord, greetings !

If each of us was to bring out a diary he had written of his own personal achievements for the Lord, the list would be endless. Yet when the prophet asks, “With what shall I come before the Lord?’’ (Mic 6 :6), and then follows it up with examples of the biggest things he can conceive of, even in terms of practices laid down by God himself, these are still seen as being in adequate. It is then that we learn this lesson :
1- Act
2- Love
3- Walk Humbly
This verse is in one sense the overall summary of what God expects of his children - and it is not for us to either further develop or dissect it. We invite each and every one to go before Him and to ask him - or herself the question : “Where am I at, in terms of this clear instruction?” In a world of injustice, selfishness and pride, how can I play my part in putting it into practice?

May he bless you.

Mat 9 : 35 - 38 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Beloved in the Lord!

Our Muslim friends have just completed their 30 days of prayer. Some, desiring an extra year's blessings, prolonged their fast, in some cases up to 7 days after the end of Ramadan. All this, to move the heart of a God who gives them no certainty of going to heaven. So many penances and privations. Certain sects even prescribe flagellations. But for us, the price was paid two thousand years ago on Golgotha. We must carry this message to those who are seeking God, like Cornelius. God has not changed. He can still send the angel to bid the Muslim Corneliuses send for the Peters who have the burden of lost souls on their hearts.

Jer 31 :16 This is what the Lord says : “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears; for your work will be rewarded.”

Beloved in the Lord!

Reading again through the book of Jeremiah lately has caused me to feel as if I am standing sometimes in the place of the prophet, sometimes in that of the people. “Oh, that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would weep day and night …’’ (9:1) The days go by, sometimes one much like another. As someone once said in documentary “there are days that one would like to go on for a long time”, but also “there are days that one could wish never to have seen”. If there is a book that better teaches the cost of ministry, it is also that of the prophet. The temptation to distance oneself from God's calling is very great on the continent of Africa, in view of the shocks and shake-ups that every day brings.

Mt 26 : 54 "But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

Beloved in the Lord, greetings.

In this verse, the Lord teaches us to always view our lives in the light of His word. The people of God are a prophetic people, who live to fulfil his prophetic design. When we lose sight of this dimension, we fall into human-based rescue plans or we birth Ishmaels - works of the flesh that bring death. Let us allow the scriptures to be fulfilled in our lives, even if we do not always enjoy the process. God bless you.

"Gather the people together and I will give them water ... Spring up, O well!"
(Numbers 21:16-17)

We believe this is not just to thank the Lord for what he did in the past,
but more to seek Him for the well to spring up in our generation!

Celebration For The Nations Update April 2007

When Israel sang for the well to 'spring up', they were using the same word that the angel who wrestled with Jacob used when he told him that the day was breaking. Spring up, shoot forth, break the day, they are all related in Hebrew.

Jacob fought through the night as a deceiver who had wasted so much of his life trying to work things out his own way. However he entered the new day as a Prince with God who had struggled and overcome. As we sing to the well, wasted lives will be redeemed, even wasted years in our own lives. A new day will dawn and an army of overcomers will rise up.

"Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?"
(Is 2:22)

Beloved in the Lord, greetings and a happy New Year 2007 !

This verse from scripture left a strong impression in my heart after I read it. A parallel verse,  Ps146:3 says much the same, about mortal man who cannot save. The prophet Jeremiah spells out the consequences in 17:5-8 of the book that bears his name.

"In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ ..." (1 Tim.6 :13-14)

Beloved in the Lord!

Man's scale of values is very far removed from that of God; and we need to continually seek His mind in order to only do his will, as Jesus did. It is certainly difficult to put this into practice, but unavoidable if we do not want to sink into mere activism. This being so, we would like to share a thought about what should be our attitude in the face of detractors. The foolishness of God teaches us that we cannot expect to understand everything; so to follow the example of Jesus would enable us to avoid certain blunders.

Update November 06

Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you will receive the dew of your youth." (Psalm 110:3)

Other translations of this mysterious and wonderful verse talk of the day of His power and say 'your young men will come to you like the dew'. Drops of dew cannot be counted, it is the same kind of image as the sand on the shore or the stars of the sky. We can be sure that the Lord has days in His calendar that are days of His power, when those being saved will not be able to be numbered!

Have you ever noticed that the dawn has a womb? She holds the promise of the new day. She holds all its secrets. The dawn must break out just as a womb must open and reveal her fruit. There is a new day coming, and the womb of that day will be filled with the fruit of our present prayer, adoration and worship. The One who is the Bright Morning Star, is in us calling that day into being.
