The Courses

Courses One and Two follow the highly popular Headway Series from Oxford University Press. They are designed to give you a good practical knowledge of English and cover grammar, conversation and pronunciation skills. These could be taken together with an opportunity to travel over Christmas. It is highly recommended that Course Two is taken if you are considering the follow on IELTS course. Course Three provides an intensive preparation for the internationally recognised IELTS certification from Cambridge University. Courses Two and Three can be completed within a six month period with a two week Easter break in the middle, providing opportunity for travel. There is a reduction of £50 on subsequent courses if more than one course is taken. Course Materials are charged separately and should amount to no more that £50 per course. Each course provides a minimum of 15 hours teaching per week, and a minimum of 80% attendance is required.

Accommodation is arranged for students with local hosts in Wellingborough. This will cost £900 for twelve weeks (i.e. £75/week) and should be paid directly to your host family.  Meals are provided within the accommodation fee but not personal living costs.

The Language School is based in Wellingborough, a multicultural town in the middle of England. Wellingborough is situated 70 miles north of London and 50 miles from the historic University towns of Oxford and Cambridge and also from Stratford upon Avon, the home of William Shakespeare.

The Carey Academy of Language Learning is a Christian-based training school, with a strong interest in World Mission, and located in an area of significant historical Christian interest. John Bunyan, author of Pilgrims Progress, John Newton, writer of Amazing Grace and William Carey, the Father of Modern Mission (and prominent linguist after whom our Language School is named) all lived within 20 miles of our Centre. Courses encourage personal development and spiritual growth.
